Ms. Hazel Grace Goodwin Dickerson, age 83 of Sparta, passed away at 10:37pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County.
Hazel was born February 20, 1942 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Charlie Robert and Della Irene Howell Goodwin. A dedicated seamstress, she worked in numerous clothing factories before retiring from Red Kap. She also kept her three sewing machines busy at home fulfilling many requests that came her way. A longtime member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, Hazel also found joy in reading, crossword puzzles, and word searches.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by the father of her son, Billie Ray Dickerson; sister Louise Austin and brothers, James Harold Goodwin, Robert Goodwin, Billy Joe Goodwin and Thomas “Dubber” Goodwin.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her son Darrell Dickerson and wife Tina of Cookeville
Grandchildren: Jacob (Amber) Dickerson, Emily (Brent) Emery and Kendra Hicks
Great-grandchildren: Libby, Kolby, Kaitlyn, Wilder and Sawyer
Sisters: Bonnie Summers, Dorothy Hutchings and Linda (Dewey) Pittman
Brother: Charles (Corliss) Goodwin
A host of nieces and nephews also survive

ARRANGEMENTS:
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, March 2, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. Clayton Lee, Jr. will officiate.
Seth Price, Mark Hutchings, Russell Goodwin, Steven McBride, Mike ONeal and Steve Kunze will serve as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
