Mrs. Janice Elwanda Howell Frazier, better known as Wanda, age 86 of Sparta passed away on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026 in the Emergency Room of Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Wanda was born April 12, 1939 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Maston Asco and Ada Magalene Howard “Adith” Howell. Wanda was passionate about caring for many types of animals such as birds, cats, dogs, fish and the occasional orphaned squirrels, rabbits and deer that made their presence known in the time of need. She loved sewing, gardening, reading magazines, finding trinkets and raising all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for always having something sweet stashed in her purse, a coke nearby and GBN on television. Wanda was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Wanda was loved by everyone and will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Wanda is also preceded in death by her son Michael Dean Frazier who died December 21, 2008 and his wife Betty; brother Lavaughn Howell and son in law Michael Ernest Austin.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 66 years, Harold Stanton Frazier

Grandchildren: Tabitha Gesing (Ryan), Michele Leatherwood (Kevin), Ashlee Frazier, Brittnay Frazier, Allison Gant (William), Sydney Gower (Seth) Thomas Kelly Frazier and Laken Eller (Rylee)
Great grandchildren: Locklyn Gesing, Daxleigh Gesing, Ashtyn (AJ) Gesing, Wesley Gant, Gracie Frazier, Wrenley Gant and Arlo Gower
Sisters: Jean Johnson and Louise Finchum
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive
ARRANGEMENTS:
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Monday at Hunter Funeral Home. John Lawson will officiate.
Mark Eller, Jimmy Austin, William Gant, Ryan Gesing, Seth Gower, Kevin Leatherwood, Laken Eller, Thomas Kelly Frazier and Locklyn Gesing will serve as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
